Paper Gun Helps Prisoner Escape.
A prisoner facing a life sentence escaped from a
Tacoma, Washington area courtroom by using a fake gun he made out out of
paper and cardboard.
Harold McCord, in the courtroom for a motion hearing, used the fake gun to
threaten guards, then shed his jail clothes and hijacked a pickup truck,
according to a sheriff's spokesman.
He was in the courtroom for a motion hearing and his handcuffs and
shackles had been removed.
McCord, who had his handcuffs and shackles removed for the hearing, was
facing a life sentence under the state's three-strikes law. McCord's
record included kidnapping and assault.
