Dead and Long Gone.

A woman in Louisiana has been charged with felony theft after she allegedly swiped the deceased person's wedding ring.

The woman, Susan M. Duhon, was attending a wake when the sleight of hand took place. She reportedly left the open casket with something to remember the recently departed: the wedding ring on his finger.

"I've heard of grave robbing and stuff but never during a wake," said Crowley Police Capt. Richard Sammartino.

Family members reported seeing their loved one's ring missing after Duhon hovered over the casket, according to police. The family contacted the funeral directors, who then called police.

Officers visited Duhon's home and reportedly recovered the ring, which police valued at over $500. Duhon reportedly admitted to taking the ring but did not say why.
